My grandson was born on the 14th May 2018. He was doing really good and doing really well until Thursday 31st May when he started to bring some of his milk up with some of his feeds. We just thought it was reflux. The midwife was coming the next day so we thought we would ask her. It was after the midwife rang hospital we were told to head to A & E. My wife ( Christine) and his mum (Kelsi) took him to Palmerston North A & E. They were told he was going into heart failure and needed to go up to Starship. Life flight flewKelsi & Axell up that night & Christine followed. After lots of tests at starship, it was found that his Mitral valve wasn't working. Because he was too young to operate to replace the valve he had special heart surgery called the Norwood procedure on 5th June. Its 1 of 3 surgeries he will need to have. Heart kids have been amazing. They are supporting my wife and daughter while they are still up in Auckland and will continue to do so when he can finally come home.
Thanks for supporting us in this fundraiser.
